No Win No Fee -
Justice Without Financial Risk

At Consumer Rights Solicitors (CRS), we believe everyone should have access to justice, not just those who can afford upfront legal fees.

That’s why we work on a No Win No Fee basis for most of our cases, meaning you don’t pay us a penny unless your case is successful.

No hidden costs. Just clear, fair representation from start to finish.

What Does “No Win No Fee” Mean?

A No Win No Fee  agreement, which might be either a conditional fee or damage based agreement, allows you to pursue your claim without paying anything upfront.
  • If your case wins, our fees are taken as a capped percentage of the compensation you receive.
  • If your case doesn’t win, you pay nothing towards our legal fees.

This model ensures our goals are aligned with yours, we only succeed when you do.

When We Use No Win No Fee Agreements

We act on a No Win No Fee basis for most of the consumer claims we handle, including:

  • Motor Finance Mis-Selling (including PCP and HP agreements)
  • Secret or Hidden Commission Claims
  • PPI and Plevin-related Claims
  • Mortgage and Repossession Matters
  • Bank Transfer & Scam Claims
  • Investment and Crypto Mis-Selling
  • Advice Fee & Consumer Credit Disputes

Where a CFA isn’t suitable, we’ll provide a bespoke costs estimate before you decide to go ahead, so you’ll always know what to expect.

What You Pay if You Win

If your claim is successful, our fee is deducted from your compensation at the end of your case.
We keep this simple, capped, and transparent.

For Non-Litigated Cases

Our fees follow the SRA’s success fee cap (exclusive of VAT), meaning you’ll always keep the majority of your compensation.

For Litigated Cases

If your case proceeds to court and is successful, your total legal costs (including our success fee and VAT) will never exceed 36% of your compensation.
If your case does not succeed, you pay nothing towards our legal fees.

What Happens if You Lose

If your case is unsuccessful:

  • You won’t pay us anything for our legal work.
  • Any expenses or “disbursements” (such as expert or court fees) are usually covered by an After-the-Event (ATE) insurance policy.
  • The ATE premium is only payable if you win your case, meaning you’re fully protected from financial risk throughout.

Liability to pay other sides costs

If unsuccessful you will not need to pay our costs, but you could be responsible for paying the other side’s costs if your case goes to court

To protect you from any financial risk, will arrange After-the-Event (ATE) insurance on your behalf. This policy is designed to cover the opponent’s legal costs and certain expenses if your claim is not successful.

Why Choose No Win No Fee with CRS

  • No Upfront Costs – You pay nothing to start your claim.
  • No Win, No Fee – You only pay if your case succeeds.
  • Capped Fees – You’ll always know the maximum you could pay.
  • Full Transparency – Everything is explained clearly in writing.
  • Your Interests First – We only win when you do.

We’re committed to making consumer justice affordable, fair, and stress-free.

Example: How Our Fees Work

Let’s say you win £2,500 for a mis-sold car finance claim.
Under the SRA’s rules, our maximum deduction would be 28% (£700) plus VAT, leaving you with £1,660 in compensation.
If your case doesn’t succeed, you pay nothing.

If Your Case Goes to Court

If your case needs to go to court, we’ll always discuss this with you first so you understand what’s involved.
Your No Win No Fee arrangement remains in place, but court-related disbursements (such as barrister’s fees or expert reports) may arise.
We’ll explain all of these in advance, and where possible, they’re also covered by your ATE insurance policy

Your Right to Cancel

You have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date you sign your Conditional Fee Agreement.
During this time, you can cancel your instruction without charge, provided we haven’t started substantive work on your case.
If you cancel after work has begun, we may charge for the reasonable costs of the work already completed, as set out in your CFA.
We’ll always explain this clearly before any charge is made.

Fees on cancellation (after cooling off period)

If you choose to cancel after the cooling off period, we reserve the right to charge either:

  • Basic charges and basic disbursements including barristers’ fees but not the success fee when we ask for them;
  • Basic charges and basic disbursements including barristers’ fees and success fee if the client goes on to win the claim for damages.

After-the-Event (ATE) Insurance – What It Is & When You Pay It

To protect you from any financial risk if your case goes to court, we usually arrange After-the-Event (ATE) insurance on your behalf. This policy is designed to cover the opponent’s legal costs and certain expenses if your claim is not successful.

  • You do not pay anything upfront for the ATE insurance.
  • If your claim does not succeed, you do not pay the premium.
  • If your claim succeeds, the ATE premium may be deducted from your compensation. This is separate from our legal fees and is only payable if you win.

ATE premiums typically range from £180 to £4,000, depending on the stage your case reaches (for example: expert evidence, court proceedings, trial preparation etc.). You will always be informed before any policy is taken out.

Some of our clients report that they have been contacted by individuals claiming to be from “their solicitors” stating that their Motor Finance claim has been settled and requesting personal details.

To clarify — the FCA has paused all Motor Finance payments while their investigation is ongoing, so no settlements have been made yet.
